Exceptional Lens with Stunning Sharpness and Beautiful Bokeh
I recently added the ZEISS Batis 85mm f/1.8 Lens to my Sony E Mount mirrorless setup, and it has rapidly become one of the lenses that I use most frequently for shooting. As a commercial photographer with decades of experience, I am always on the hunt for lenses that give both optical excellence and practical usage, and the Batis 85mm certainly delivers on both fronts. I am very pleased with this lens.
Optical Quality: It is impossible to overstate how beautiful the image quality is. Even at its widest aperture of f/1.8, this lens is able to offer outstanding sharpness in its images. The rendering of skin tones is quite stunning, and it captures every nuance with pinpoint accuracy. The contrast is outstanding, as is characteristic of ZEISS lenses, and the colors are vibrant and accurate to the surrounding environment.
Bokeh: The bokeh created by this lens is one of its most notable features. The combination of the 85mm focal length and the f/1.8 aperture results in a bokeh that is completely smooth and creamy, which allows the subject to stand out against a background that is attractively blurred. This works wonderfully for images in which you want to generate a sense of depth while isolating your subject with the camera.
Build Quality and Handling: According to what one would anticipate from ZEISS, the Batis 85mm has an excellent construction quality. On my Sony A7 series camera, it has a strong and well-balanced feel, and the weather sealing provides me confidence when I am shooting in settings that are less than ideal. Additionally, the lens is not overly heavy, which makes it a pleasant choice for usage during extended shooting sessions.
OLED Display: In addition to being a nice touch, the revolutionary OLED display that is located on the lens barrel enables me to quickly determine the focus distance as well as the depth of field. In spite of the fact that it is not a required component, this function contributes to the lens's overall usability.
Autofocus: When taking pictures, it's important that the autofocus works quickly and correctly. Even when there isn't much light, it quickly locks on to the subject and follows their movements well. Even though it's not the fastest lens on the market, it works well enough for me.
Overall, The ZEISS Batis 85mm f/1.8 is a great lens that produces amazing images and lovely background blur. It's perfect for taking portraits. It is a great addition to any photographer's gear because it is well-made, has new features, and has reliable focusing. Whether you're a pro or a hobbyist, this lens is well worth the money.
